§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeI have set the following key targets for the Teachers Pensions Agency in 1992–93 which together cover its main activities comprehensively and focus on the principles of improving the quality of public services embodied in the citizens charter:
- 1. The implementation of a new computerised pensions administration system by the third quarter of 1992–93.
- 2. To process 95 per cent. of applications for retirement awards by the payable date or, if later than the payable date, within 30 calendar days of receipt of the application form.
- 3. To collect on time 95 per cent. of the total sum of superannuation contributions due to be paid by employers.
- 4. To demonstrate that there is a 95 per cent. probability that the error on individual pension-related calculations did not exceed 2 per cent. of the value of each calculation.
- 5. Following the introduction of the new computer system, to provide a substantive answer to 95 per cent. of written inquiries within 15 working days of receipt (excluding time waiting for essential information from third parties).
