§ Mr. John PattenInformation for 1985–89 is published in tables 2.4 and 2.21 of "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales, 1989". Figures for 1990 are published in Home Office statistical bulletin 4/91. They are annotated as provisional in the bulletin, but only the south Wales figure has since been revised, to 36 per cent. Figures for the number of offences recorded in 1991 were published yesterday in Home Office statistical bulletin 2/92. This includes an estimate of the clear-up rate for England and Wales but this information is not yet available by police force area. Copies of all these publications are available in the Library.
