HC Deb 09 March 1992 vol 205 c408W
Mr. Speed

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on progress with the study of the options for an international passenger station at Ashford.

Mr. Rifkind

British Rail has completed its preliminary study of the options for a less costly international passenger station than its original proposal. I consider that a central Ashford option best meets the various objectives. I have accordingly invited Sir Bob Reid to put forward a full investment submission for a central Ashford international passenger station to share the site of the present Network SouthEast station.
