HL Deb 06 March 1992 vol 536 cc33-4WA
The Earl of Munster

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps they are taking to prevent the sale of military and dual-capability equipment and technology to Iran in view of the refusal of authorities in that country to revoke the fatwa against Mr. Salman Rushdie.

Lord Cavendish of Furness

The guidelines relating to the sale of defence equipment are strictly enforced. Our position on the fatwa is well known. It is an infringement of the fundamental rights of a British citizen.
