§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe careers service has a key role to play in helping young people make the transition from school to employment and training. The Government wish to see a greater role for employers in the management of the service and have encouraged the formation of partnerships towards this end. It is also important and in accordance with the Government's citizens charter that the service should be accountable for its performance to parents, employers and the public. It is right therefore that the reports of the careers service inspectorate in Scotland should be published and, accordingly, publication will apply to reports of inspections begun on and after 1 April this year.
