The Attorney-GeneralIn the financial year 1990–91 expenditure on legal aid in England and Wales was £852 million gross and £684 million net. In addition, for the same period £33 million was spent on legal aid administration. In the current financial year it is estimated that expenditure will be around £1,150 million gross and around £900 million net plus £39 million on legal aid administration.
