HL Deb 29 June 1992 vol 538 cc41-2WA
Lord Judd

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In the light of the alleged massacre at Dili in East Timor, what representations they will be making on aid to Indonesia at the meeting of the Consultative Group on Indonesia to be convened by the World Bank in Paris in July.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

The Government has already made its views on the Dili killings known to the Indonesian Government. Whilst welcoming the action taken so far, we have urged that all those military personnel believed to be responsible should be brought to trial quickly. The Government will, with its EC partners, continue to keep the situation and the levels of our aid under review both before and, if necessary, after the forthcoming consultative group meeting and make what other representations it considers appropriate.
