§ Mr. Baldry[holding answer 24 June 1992]: Information is only available for the numbers of first-time buyers who are purchasing their homes with a mortgage through a bank or building society.
The latest available information is for the first quarter of 1992, when there were 106,370 first-time purchasers with such mortgages in the United Kingdom compared with 131,200 in the same quarter of 1987.
