HC Deb 25 June 1992 vol 210 cc328-9W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will publish figures showing the increase in the level of incentive payments granted to farmers since 1976 in real terms.

Mr. Curry

All farmers benefit directly or indirectly from expenditure on agricultural support in the United Kingdom. This expenditure is in the form of market support measures and other grant and subsidy schemes.

The publication "Agriculture in the UK" reports figures for expenditure on agricultural support measures, and the attached table shows figures from 1976 for spending on market support and other measures.
