Mr. Michael

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he will publish a table showing his best estimate of the numbers of elderly people in Wales as a whole, in each county in Wales and in each district in Wales aged over 85 years who are(a) in hospital or other health authority establishments, (b) in nursing homes, (c) in registered homes for the elderly, (d) in unregistered homes for the elderly, (e) in sheltered accommodation, (f) in other forms of accommodation for elderly people, (g) living with relatives and (h) living in their own homes;

(2) if he will publish a table showing his best estimate of the numbers of elderly people in Wales as a whole, in each county in Wales and in each district in Wales aged 75 to 85 years who are (a) in hospital or other health authority establishments, (b) in nursing homes, (c) in registered homes for the elderly, (d) in unregistered homes for the elderly, (e) in sheltered accommodation, (f) in other forms of accommodation for elderly people, (g) living with relatives and (h) living in their own homes;

(3) if he will publish a table showing his best estimate of the numbers of elderly people in Wales as a whole, in each county in Wales and in each district in Wales aged 65 to 75 years who are (a) in hospital or other health authority establishments, (b) in nursing homes, (c) in registered homes for the elderly, (d) in unregistered homes for the elderly, (e) in sheltered accommodation, (f) in other forms of accommodation for elderly people, (g) living with relatives and (h) living in their own homes.

The numbers of elderly people aged 65–74, 75–84 and 85 and over, living in nursing homes, mental illness hospitals and unit, mental handicap hospitals and units, and registered homes for the elderly are shown in the tables. Information on other forms of accommodation is not held centrally. Data at district level are not readily available.
