HC Deb 18 June 1992 vol 209 cc624-5W
Mr. Steen

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made in the work of the renewable energy advisory group.

Mr. Eggar

In August 1991, the former Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Energy, the hon. Colin Moynihan, announced the formation of a ministerial advisory group to spearhead the Government's review of renewable energy strategy. Since then the group has considered evidence submitted by a wide range of interested external parties, as well as drawing upon a technical assessment being conducted by the energy technology support unit.

The group will complete its work under the chairmanship of Dr. Martin Holdgate, the Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources. I look forward to receiving the report from the group in the autumn and I expect it to be published.
