HC Deb 18 June 1992 vol 209 c646W
23. Mr. Ian Bruce

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on his Department's policy on releasing prisoners temporarily for home visits.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

The prison rules provide that sentenced prisoners may be temporarily released from prison, subject to conditions, for any special purpose or to enable them to engage in employment, to receive instruction or training or to assist them in the transition from prison life to freedom.

A prisoner who has been temporarily released may be recalled to prison at any time whether the conditions of his release have been broken or not.
