HL Deb 10 June 1992 vol 537 c84WA
The Earl of Shrewsbury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether he is considering bringing forward legislation proposals to respond to recommendations made in the report of the Noise Review Working Party.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment (Lord Strathclyde)

Yesterday I issued a public consultation document containing proposals which would extend the statutory nuisance procedures to include noise in the street; improve the control of loudspeakers in the street; and provide adoptive powers for local authorities to require the fitting of cut-out devices to burglar alarms. The consultation document also deals with some points of clarification in the existing statutory nuisance provisions in the Environmental Protection Act, 1990. Copies of this consultation paper have been placed in the Libraries of both Houses.
