To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the latest position as regards the provision of an international passenger station at Ashford, Kent.

British rail has announced that it is soon to submit an application for planning permission for the central Ashford proposal for an international passenger station. I welcome this move, which will help allow early progress.
