HC Deb 10 June 1992 vol 209 c188W
Mr. O'Hara

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the number of properties sold by local authorities under the right-to-buy legislation in England in 1991; what was the average price paid after discount; and how many of these properties were flats.

Mr. Baldry

In 1991 about 51,900 dwellings were sold by local authorities in England under the right-to-buy legislation, approximately 13,900 of which were flats. The average price paid after discount for sitting-tenant sales, the vast majority of which are right-to-buy sales, is estimated to be £20,800 in 1991.

Mr. O'Hara

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish a table showing, for each region in England, the number of local authority homes sold under the right-to-buy legislation since its introduction and that figure as a percentage of the total number of properties owned by local authorities in the region.

Mr. Baldry

The available information is given in the table.
