HC Deb 09 June 1992 vol 209 c87W
Mr. Trimble

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he proposes to take to freeze assets of the former Republic of Yugoslavia, now controlled by Serbia, held in the United Kingom.

Mr. Norman Lamont

I have been asked to reply.

Her Majesty's Treasury took action to block Serbian and Montenegran assets held in the United Kingdom with effect from 1 June. Directions were made under the Emergency Laws (Re-enactments and Repeals) Act 1964.

An Order in Council was made on 4 June which implements the full range of sanctions under United Nations Security Council resolution 757 and includes provisions covering the assets freeze secured by the Treasury directions.
