HC Deb 09 June 1992 vol 209 c94W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list those fairways, harbours and creeks in the United Kingdom which the Royal Navy administers or provides navigational markers where there is no Royal Naval presence or regular naval activity; and if he will set out the policy reasons for retaining these.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

There are four such areas other than those which lie within dockyard ports: the Thames estuary, Benbecula, St Kilda and Cope channel. Markers are maintained in these areas to indicate safe navigation or to mark hazards such as wrecks.
