HC Deb 09 June 1992 vol 209 c103W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what advice his Department gives to establishments, licensed under the Mink (Keeping) Order 1987, on the avoidance of spread of diseases of mink between establishments and to other wild species.

Mr. Soames

There are currently 22 establishments licensed under the Mink (Keeping) Order 1987 to keep mink for fur-bearing purposes in England, and over 38,000 individual mink are kept under these arrangements. In the last 12 months there have been no reports of escapes received by the Ministry. No mink farms currently operate in Wales.
