To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he is making to the EC about the proposals on lobster sizes.

Mr. Curry

With effect from 1 June 1992 the definition of minimum landing size of lobsters was revised to remove ambiguity in the legal text of the relevant EC Regulation in certain of the languages of the Community. The United Kingdom industry was consulted about this change last June and informed of the Council's decision in October 1991. However, in response to very recently expressed concerns we are considering the matter urgently.
