HC Deb 09 June 1992 vol 209 c99W
Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much money is allocated by his Department towards family planning services; and if he has any plans to increase the allocation.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Aid programme spending on direct population activities totalled over £26 million in 1991, which represents a 55 per cent. increase over the last two years. Population is a priority in the aid programme, and we hope to continue to increase our bilateral support to population programmes and reproductive health services in Africa and Asia, to the United Nations Population Fund, and to non-governmental organisations active in this area.
