§ 29. Mr. BeithTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement about progress on reform of the common agricultural policy.
§ Mr. GummerI refer my hon. Friends and the hon. Gentleman to the statement that I made to the House on 22 May.
§ Mr. Ron DaviesTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the amount of the British contribution to the common agricultural policy for 1991; and what percentage this contribution makes of the whole common agricultural policy funding.
§ Mr. CurryIt is not possible to give a figure. The United Kingdom contributes to the EC budget as a whole, not to individual parts of the budget such as the common agricultural policy. Moreover, the United Kingdom's contribution to the budget is reduced by the abatement —£2,366 million in 1991–92—to reduce our overall share and this cannot realistically be allocated to the different parts of the budget.
