HC Deb 03 June 1992 vol 208 c554W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received on the requirement for visas for Polish nationals who visit the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Charles Wardle

Since the beginning of last year, about 160 representations have been received from right hon. and hon. Members and about 75 letters from members of the public.

After a further review of the need for a visa requirement for Polish nationals, the Prime Minister decided to lift it with effect from 1 July.

The position will be reviewed after two years in the light of experience of the effects of this change.
