HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 cc397-8W
Mr. Ralph Howell

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list any two or more countries which operate a single market but do not have a single currency.

Mr. Nelson

Australia and New Zealand have removed most barriers to the free movement of goods, services, labour and capital between them, but do not share a single currency. Other groups of countries—such as the United Kingdom and Ireland and the Benelux countries—have had very liberal trade arrangements for some time without a single currency.
