HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 c523W
Mr. Barnes

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what form of statistics he holds on the punctuality of British Rail passenger services; what criteria are used when they are compiled; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

The British Rail passengers charter, which was published in March, committed British Rail to keeping passengers informed of how it performs compared with targets agreed annually with the Government. The charter document, which is widely available, sets out the criteria used to measure British Rail's performance in several areas, including punctuality.

On 11 May, British Rail published the first of its "TrackRecord" reports on reliability and punctuality for each of the 44 passenger route groups its operates. These reports which will be updated every four weeks, can be seen at British Rail stations throughout Britain.
