HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 c514W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will ask the railway inspectorate to investigate the safety implications of the incident on Monday 18 May in Brierfield in the Pendle constituency involving damage to a train by a coping stone.

Mr. Freeman

This incident arose as a result of vandalism which the British Transport police are investigating. The Health and Safety Executive's railway inspectorate is aware of the action taken by the British Rail's civil engineer following the incident and is satisfied that there is no further risk to either the public or to railway staff.
