HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 cc522-3W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is his policy on the International Maritime Organisation recommendations on passenger vessel stability for through-deck vessels.

Mr. Norris

The United Kingdom expressed dissatisfaction with the recent IMO standards adopted for existing ro-ro passenger ship residual stability and entered a reservation. We are now pursuing the adoption of higher standards over a reasonable time scale within the European Community.
