HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 cc415-6W
Mr. Dobson

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what was the total sum paid out in fees by the Duchy of Lancaster's Department to management consultants in 1979–80 and in each following year up to and including 1991–92; and what is his estimate for 1992–93.

Mr. Waldegrave

Fees paid to management consultants by the Duchy of Lancaster are as follows:

offences which involved the use of a knife at courts covering the Greater London area for each of the last three years;

(2) how many (a) men and (b) women were charged with the use of a knife in a criminal offence at courts in England and Wales during the last three years;

(3) how many people appearing in court in England and Wales were charged with offences which related to the use of a knife in each of the last three years.

Mr. Jack

[holding answer 22 May 1992]: Information available centrally, which is given in the tables, relates only to the number of persons prosecuted and found guilty for possession of knives under the Prevention of Crime Act 1953, section 1 and the Criminal Justice Act 1988, section 139 for the years 1988 to 1990. It is not possible to distinguish centrally whether or not knives have been used for other offences, such as wounding. Information for 1991 is not yet available.
