To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in chronological order those areas that have already received a recommendation from the Local Government Boundary Commission that they should be reorganised to a unitary authority together with the date of each recommendation.

Only in its review of the Isle of Wight did the Local Government Boundary Commission state that it would have proposed a unitary authority, had it been in its power to do so. Their final report was received by the Secretary of State on 10 October 1986.
