Mr. Dewar

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how much money was granted to farmers in England and Wales through the farm diversification scheme in 1990–91; and if he will give a breakdown of this expenditure between the various activities eligible for grants.

A total of £2,765,691 was paid in grants under the farm diversification grant scheme in England and Wales in 1990–91. A breakdown of these figures by the various eligible enterprises is set out in the table.
