§ Mr. AitkenThere are currently 1,164 registered disabled people employed in the MOD. This represents 0.9 per cent. of the total workforce. In addition, there are a number of staff with disabilities who have chosen not to register formally as disabled. The MOD takes very seriously its responsibilities as an equal opportunities employer, and has compiled a programme of action for people with disabilities, which is to be launched shortly.
