To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department what decision has been reached about the future of Darwen magistrates court.

As mentioned in my letter of 27 May 1992 to the hon. Member, the Lord Chancellor has carefully considered the appeal by Lancashire county council against the Lancashire magistrates courts committee's determination to close this courthouse and has found the courts committee's decision to be soundly based; he has therefore dismissed the appeal.
