HC Deb 16 July 1992 vol 211 c1004W
Mr. Gareth Wardell

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what action he is planning to allow pharmacists to continue to make arrangements for the collection and disposal of unwanted medicines without having to complete consignment notes giving a description of the waste, its chemical constituents and their concentrations and total quantity and source.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

Pharmacists receiving unwanted medicines are subject to a wide range of waste management controls including a requirement to complete consignment notes. Representations from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain on the controls that apply to the disposal of unwanted medicines are being considered in the context of the review of the Control of Pollution (Special Waste) Regulations 1980.
