§ Mr. David HuntI refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply that I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Clwyd, North-West (Mr. Richards) on 15 July, in which I announced the appointment of the chief inspector for Wales from September 1992. Inspections by teams headed by a registered inspector will be carried out every five years and will start for secondary schools from September 1993 and for primary and special schools from September 1994. It will be for the chief inspector to decide which inspectors should be registered in the light of their qualifications, experience and following training by Her Majesty's inspector.
When the new system is fully in force in 1995–96, there will be inspections of some 45 secondary schools and some 360 primary, special and nursery schools a year.
