Mr. McMaster

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) when he last met representatives of Scottish chambers of commerce; and what matters were discussed;

(2) when he last met representatives of the Confederation of British Industry (Scotland); and what matters were discussed;

(3) when he last met representatives of the Scottish Trades Union Congress; and what matters were discussed.

[holding answer 9 June 1992]: My colleagues and I frequently meet representatives of these bodies, both formally and informally. Recent subjects discussed include the Scottish economy; the implications of European Community policies; business rates; local government reform; and other matters of interest to business and industry in Scotland. We place a high value on these contacts and look forward to a continuing exchange of views.
