Mr. McLeish

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total number of part-time and full-time employees in employment for each of the years December 1979 to December 1991, inclusive.

Mr. Stewart

[holding answer 22 June 1992]: Information at the level of detail required is only available from the censuses of employment conducted by the Employment Department. Within the period of time for which data are requested, information is available for the following years: 1981, 1984, 1987 and 1989. The table shows the figures requested.
