§ Mr. BurtThe Employment Service checks that unemployed people, including itinerants, are entitled to benefits in respect of unemployment, in accordance with social security legislation; in particular that they are available for work and actively seek it. Every effort is made to ensure that benefit is paid only where the conditions of962W entitlement are satisfied. The Government have no plans to restrict the movement of unemployed people: mobility of labour is essential for the efficient operation of the labour market and job creation.
