Mr. Mallon

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what plans he has to introduce regulations to control aircraft noise.

Mr. Atkins

Aircraft noise at airports is subject to control under the provision of section 12 of the Aerodromes Act (Northern Ireland) 1971. There are no present plans to invoke these provisions.

Mr. Mallon

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will undertake a review of the machanisms for controlling aircraft noise.

Mr. Atkins

I have plans to do so as part of a general review of current airport legislation.
