HC Deb 16 July 1992 vol 211 c1009W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he proposes a public inquiry on the A494 road widening project at Queensferry in Ewloe; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Hunt

It is too early to comment on whether I will hold a public inquiry in respect of the proposed improvement of the A494 between River Dee and Ewloe. Once the public consultation exercise is completed I shall consider the comments received and decide whether to protect a route for planning purposes. Should I do so, draft statutory orders, as required by the Highways Act 1980, will be published in due course. Anyone wishing to comment or object to the orders will have the opportunity to do so at that time and depending on the objections received a decision will be made on whether to hold a public inquiry.

Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many representations he has so far received from residents concerning the A494 road widening scheme; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Hunt

My Department is currently undertaking a public consultation exercise in respect of proposals to improve a section of the A494 between the River Dee and Ewloe; 463 representations have been received to date.
