§ Mr. MacleanThe amount of sulphur dioxide in tonnes emitted from the power stations at Ince in Cheshire and Richborough in Kent for each year since 1988 was as follows:
Ince Richborough 1988 3,822 0 1989 3,954 485 1990 6,999 3,926 1991 8,207 15,186 Both stations have permission from Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution to burn limited amounts of orimulsion under legislation which preceded the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Future operations at these power stations will require authorisation from HMIP under the 1990 Act. PowerGen applied for authorisation in April 1991. The applications are the 847W subject of an appeal to my right hon. and learned Friend about commercial confidentiality. They cannot be determined until after the appeal decision, which will be made as soon as possible.
