§ Mr. SteinbergTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the number of stolen cars in(a) the Northumberland police area and (b) the Durham area in 1991 that were (i) recovered undamaged, (ii) recovered damaged and (iii) not recovered.
§ Mr. JackThe available information held centrally shows that, of 30,356 recorded offences of theft of a vehicle in the Northumbria police force area in 1991, 19,275 vehicles were recovered. The corresponding figures for the Durham police force area were 8,640 and 4,383 respectively. Information is not collected centrally on whether or not the recovered vehicles were damaged.
