§ Mr. LeighFollowing publication of the report, I and my colleagues have had the opportunity to consider the recommendations in detail. We are in full agreement with their intended aim to strengthen the management of the radio spectrum in the interests of more efficient use of this valuable resource.
When the report was published on 30 September 1991, my predecessor announced the Government's response to two of the recommendations and stated that the Government intended to publish a consultative document on the future management of the radio spectrum in the United Kingdom. Some of the issues raised in the report 789W would benefit from wider consultation and therefore it is my intention that they be included in the consultative document.
