HC Deb 15 July 1992 vol 211 cc817-8W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what information he has been given from sources in Seoul and Panmunjom about British prisoners seen in prisoner of war camps during the Korean conflict but not after the cessation of hostilities.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

Information was received from these sources at the time of the post-hostilities repatriations of British prisoners of war. We have not received any further information recently and have seen no evidence to support claims that British prisoners of war were detained in Korea or elsewhere after the post-armistice repatriations.

Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will place in the Library the information he has received from the United States Senate relating to British prisoners of war captured during the Korean war; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

To date we have received no material from the United States Senate on this subject.

Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will place in the Library the accounting procedure guidelines by which missing men, or known prisoners of war from the Korean war, are declared dead.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

My noble Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence will write to the hon. Member.
