§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeOn 20 May 1992 I announced my intention to set up an inquiry to look at police responsibilities and rewards, reporting to me by the end of May 1993. Parliamentary approval for this new service will be sought in a winter supplementary estimate for the Home Office administration, immigration and police support services, England and Wales vote—class IX, vote 3. Pending that approval, urgent expenditure estimated at £334,000 will he met by repayable advances from the contingencies fund.
