To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people are employed by the fishing industry in Northern Ireland.

There is estimated to be some 2,900 people employed in the Northern Ireland fishing industry either on a full-time or part-time basis. This includes sea fisherman, fish farmers, those engage in processing and other ancillary occupations and commercial salmon and inland fishery enterprises.
