§ Mr. BayleyTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment since 1 March(a) what new classes of environmental information held by his Department have been made available to the public, (b) what new rights to participate in the decision-making process on environmental issues have been extended by his Department to the public and (c) what new rights to seek remedies in the event of breach of environmental laws or failure to provide environmental services have been introduced by his Department for the public.
§ Mr. MacleanThe booklet "Green Rights and Responsibilities", published in February, summarised the current environmental rights and responsibilities of individuals. As was announced following the Prime Minister's seminar on 19 June, my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State proposes to work with local government to develop a charter for local authority environment services, and in doing so he will review those rights.
