660Wannounce that an independent committee, chaired by Sir Colin Fielding, will review the radio spectrum in the range 28MHz to 470MHz. This frequency range is one of the most intensively used parts of the radio spectrum and demand for access is increasing. The aim of the review, which will be the third in the current series of reviews, is to examine existing and planned use of the radio spectrum within the review range and make recommendations on that use in the light of national and international developments in radiocommunications. The committee intends to consult widely. The previous two reviews produced reports which have been widely welcomed as making major contributions towards our commitments to make more efficient use of the spectrum and my colleagues and I look forward to the report of the committee on this key frequency range.
