§ Mr. Kenneth CarlisleA meeting was held with English Nature on 23 June to discuss proposals for protecting the newt colony at Barnfield pond. Although the Department's preferred option is translocation of the newts, English Nature asked for an assessment of whether it would be possible to realign the road locally. Our consultants are to make the assessment and further discussions will take place.
