HC Deb 14 July 1992 vol 211 c600W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the levels of resourcing for education in Wales; and if he will make it his policy to establish guaranteed minimum levels of funding to assist in the establishment of the national curriculum and local management of schools.

Mr. David Hunt

The local government finance settlement for 1992–93, approved by the House on 12 February, enables all local authorities in Wales to maintain and develop services for which they are responsible to an acceptable standard. The settlement is supplemented by the grants for education, support and training and Welsh language grant programmes under which specific grants are available to local education authorities for the support of the national curriculum and local management of schools.
