To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his policy on the provision of DNA information about patients to insurance companies.

Mr. Stewart

Information obtained from DNA testing is confidential and should be treated in the same way as other personal health information. It should not be disclosed to insurance companies without the prior consent of the patient.
