§ Mr. Alfred MorrisTo ask the Prime Minister what consideration he has given to the communique on the Uruguay round issued by the Cairns group Ministers on 28 June; what further action the Government will be taking; and if he will make a statement.
§ The Prime Minister[holding answer 7 July 1992]: The Government welcome the communique issued by the Cairns group Ministers, and support the points they make about the importance of the Uruguay round. At the Munich summit, the G7 leaders recognised the progress made in recent months. We expressed their conviction that an agreement is now within reach, and could be achieved before the end of 1992. The United Kingdom will continue to work hard for this during our presidency of the European Community.
